Goal I. Tactics
1.1a Coordinate efforts with the FSU Research Development team in the Office of Research to advance faculty proposal development, grant administration, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
1.1b Increase administrative supports and incentives for research faculty, including clear pathways for faculty advancement and promotion associated with large grant awards.
1.1c Recruit new hires with large, external federally-funded grant awards upon hiring through competitive startup packages and compensation with appropriate teaching loads.
1.2a Develop and launch an Academic Analytics External Discovery Site to track and share research activity at FSU with external stakeholders and highlight faculty scholarship on Faculty Profile pages.
1.2b Develop a targeted marketing strategy designed to reach peers in higher education that are charged with casting votes that affect academic reputation in U.S. News & world Report and other ranking entities.
1.2c Create FSU News articles targeting higher education media outlets featuring FSU’s research excellence, particularly in the ASPIRE “impact areas” and translational research. Media outlets to include Inside Higher Ed, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and APLU.
1.3a Develop resources to increase faculty award attempts across the university to include an enhanced award catalog, expanded departmental award committee resources, and an awards dashboard to showcase faculty honors.
1.3b Create a system for connecting under-awarded faculty with capacity for highest-level awards with defined pathways for obtaining prestigious and highly-prestigious awards with progress tracking and nomination support.
1.3c Create a recognition and celebration framework faculty earning external awards.
1.4a Initiate a Bibliometric Data Remediation Project to restore credit to FSU for previously authored work by FSU faculty.
1.4b Increase the number of citations per faculty work authored by creating a university funding program to reimburse the associated fee for "open access" publication or to provide matching funds to the colleges to do so.
1.4c Implement an ORCID enrollment campaign with the assistance of the Dean's Council to promote and support faculty utilization of ORCID at the college-level to include administrative support from graduate assistant delegates to assist with administrative tasks required to transfer and setup ORCID.
1.5a Improve support structures for doctoral students and postdoc appointees that supplement research, teaching, and funding to make offers of appointment more competitive and attract higher quality applicants. Types of support include mentorship, housing, career preparation, and support for scholarly activity.
1.5b Implement administrative policies to require postdoc appointments be accurately classified in HR records and provide courtesy appointments during semester breaks to ensure all appointments are captured in the data.
