Innovation Ecosystem

FSU faculty, staff, and students are nationally and internationally recognized leaders in academic innovation. FSU’s Strategic Plan stresses the need to “cultivate an ecosystem that prioritizes and embraces creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial behavior in all endeavors.” Innovation in academia happens at the liminal boundaries between disciplines, and FSU supports innovation by encouraging interdisciplinary thinking, providing support for interdisciplinary teaching, and breaking down interdisciplinary boundaries.

Faculty and Staff Innovation

FSU faculty and staff engage in interdisciplinary innovation and collaboration across departmental boundaries, share innovative ideas and practices with their colleagues across campus, and work together to shape the future of higher education. The Office of the Provost, Office of Research, Office of Faculty Development and Advancement, Information Technology Services, and more work closely with faculty and staff as active participants to build an ecosystem that supports innovative research, teaching, and service.

Student Innovation

FSU students are prepared for success as lifelong learners in a world where technology and innovation play an increasingly important role. The Office of the Provost, Office of Digital Learning and Academic Technologies, Center for the Advancement of Teaching, Division of Undergraduate Studies, and more work closely with students as active participants to build an ecosystem that supports innovative student learning.

Innovation Hub

Funded by the Office of the Provost, the Innovation Hub offers an interdisciplinary home for innovation on campus. Centrally located in the Shores Building on Landis Green in the heart of campus, the Innovation Hub serves as a catalyst for connecting faculty, staff, and students, and provides them with unique opportunities to engage with new ideas, technologies, and methodologies in a common, consistent, shared, and safe space for experimentation and exploration. The Innovation Hub is guided by an interdisciplinary Steering Committee of faculty and staff that represent the innovation interests of their colleges and programs. For more information visit Innovation Hub.
