RESEARCH ANALYTICS
Florida State University has partnered with Academic Analytics to offer tools for our community of academic leaders and research faculty to highlight scholarship and share expertise on trending research topics at the university and across the globe. These tools are designed to communicate the excellent work of FSU faculty in addition to providing resources for faculty to engage on trending research topics, build collaborative networks, connect with external partners and funding opportunities, and strengthen understanding of FSU's impactful and distinctive research portfolios. These tools are an extension of an existing partnership between FSU and Academic Analytics that spans over a decade to support data-informed higher education administration.
How it Works
Academic Analytics collects data from publicly available scholarly sources and the FSU Office of Institutional Research. This data is then organized so that it can be easily accessed through a variety of reporting tools.

Why it Matters
FSU's investment in Academic Analytics tools is about helping the university to maximize faculty advancement, expand industry partnerships, and build collaborations with peer researchers.

Who has Access
The Academic Analytics tools are primarily for use by FSU faculty and administrators with SSO login credentials. The exception is the Discovery Site, which can be viewed by the public and non-registered users.

DISCOVERY SITE
The Discovery Site is available to the public and is a useful tool for showcasing FSU faculty expertise and research activity. This tool allows users to explore trending research topics, international collaborations, and research activity by academic unit and individual faculty members.

FACULTY INSIGHT
The Faculty Insight tool is made for FSU faculty and staff researchers, making it easy to find subject-matter experts at the university and among collaborating scholars. This tool allows FSU researchers to maintain faculty profiles, identify new funding sources and recommended honors, and build collaborative networks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The primary use of Academic Analytics at FSU is to highlight the exceptional research and scholarly activity of the university faculty to external stakeholders through the Discovery Site and to foster collaborations among FSU faculty and researchers at peer universities on shared research interests through Faculty Insight. Additional functionalities are available for each of the Academic Analytics tools and may be used to facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations, identification of pathways to prestigious honors and awards, and more.
Academic Analytics provides a detailed account of “Database Assembly and Methodology” and in the Knowledge Base. By navigating to the Knowledge Base after logging into the Academic Analytics portal at https://portal.academicanalytics.com/sso/fsu, users can search database content from federal grants to honorific awards.
New faculty members may not have a profile on Academic Analytics until the spring semester of their first year of teaching. This is due to the timing of the faculty roster update provided by FSU to Academic Analytics each spring.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
Each of the Academic Analytics modules includes support guides and videos for navigating the modules. You can access these by selecting the Help link once you are logged in. On the Faculty Insight module, for example, clicking the Help link on the top menu bar will direct you to a Knowledge Base that includes a Faculty Insight User Guide. The User Guide provides articles on a variety of topics, from "Introduction to Faculty Insight" to "Editing your Faculty Insight Profile."
