At Florida State University, innovation thrives at the liminal boundaries between disciplines. FSU faculty, staff, and students work together to proactively adopt disruptive innovations, respond effectively to radical change, and shape the future of teaching and learning.
As one of the nation's most innovative universities, Florida State University fosters an environment that promotes academic innovation across departments and disciplines by encouraging innovative thinking, breaking down interdisciplinary boundaries, and supporting faculty, staff, and students as they explore new ideas, technologies, and methodologies that have the potential to transform and enhance higher education.
Faculty Leadership
Academic Innovation is grounded in faculty leadership, where faculty and staff work together to explore disruptive technologies and innovative methodologies, share innovative ideas and practices with their colleagues across campus, engage in innovative teaching and research, and define the future of higher education.
Faculty Innovators
Faculty Innovators meet regularly to hold interdisciplinary conversations on topics related to academic innovation, creating an informal network that works to improve communication across campus, coordinate innovative activities and opportunities, and provide a framework for handling innovations that have the potential to disrupt higher education. Faculty and staff gather to share insights and discuss possibilities around academic innovation at the Innovation Hub every Wednesday morning.
Innovation Champions
Innovation Champions are dedicated faculty leaders from each college who serve as the point person in their units for emerging technologies, advocate for the innovative accomplishments of their colleagues, and promote an interdisciplinary culture of innovation at FSU. They meet regularly to improve communication across campus so that FSU faculty and staff can better understand and make more informed decisions about emerging technologies that have the potential to disrupt higher education.

Centrally located in the Shores Building on Landis Green in the heart of campus, the Innovation Hub brings together faculty, staff, and students to address the complex challenges of our day through human creativity, design thinking, and emerging technologies. The Innovation Hub is guided by an interdisciplinary steering committee of faculty and staff who represent the innovation interests of their colleges and programs.
