The Accreditation and Quality Assurance (AQuA) office at Florida State University is housed within the Office of the Provost. AQuA plays a central role in upholding the institution’s commitment to academic and operational excellence, research innovation, student success, and entrepreneurial leadership.
AQuA ensures compliance with institutional and programmatic accreditation standards through a framework grounded in transparency and accountability. The office works collaboratively with academic and administrative units across campus to embed quality assurance into academic planning and promote a culture of excellence through review.
Specific areas of responsibility include:
- Leadership for institutional accreditation activities
- Advice for departments seeking disciplinary accreditation
- Coordination of academic policy development on behalf of the Provost
- Review of articulation and other academic agreements
- Implementation of select state and federal policies
- Oversight of the university’s Quality Enhancement Plan
Through these efforts, AQuA fosters an environment of institutional integrity and accountability, ensuring that Florida State University provides a strong return on investment for our students, internal and external stakeholders, and the citizens of Florida.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) serves as the accreditor for Florida State University, including all campuses and instructional locations.
